Little Rock, Arkansas: In response to AR House Bill 1023, a bill that would require all flags purchased by state agencies to be made or manufactured in America, Kerry McCoy, President and Founder of FlagandBanner.com, has weighed in with her opinion on the bill. While speaking with Andrew Epperson of KARK 4 News this afternoon, Kerry had this to say:
“Flag and Banner belongs to the National Independent Flag Dealers Association. As a member, we have agreed to only sell US flags made in America so, in a sense, the industry is already regulating itself. I have never known a federal or state building to fly anything other than an American made flag. We already supply most of the US and state flags for the state of Arkansas, but it’s always a good idea to remind people that some flags are made overseas and that they should be critical of their suppliers.”
In previous interviews, Kerry has commented that local flag legislation tends to be more sensational, with the goal of drumming-up support for the bill’s sponsors. But this time, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chains in the flag industry have been strained for years, and the public support of local manufacturers would be a welcome boost to the industry.
