Volume 6 Issue 2 Fall-Winter 2019
By Madison Monroe
aking the initiative requires confidence, vision and bravery. As I look at this edition of BRAVE’s story board, I find that each article spotlights the initiative of a person, program or community and each, at its core, was born from the heartfelt desire to honor or empower others. These stories are those of service. I believe the highest calling of any initiative is to capture the imagination of the public and inspire action. According to Gandhi, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service to others.”
In honor of upcoming Veterans day, I have included an article on a program initiated by first responders to honor Veterans, a story about a college student who created a monument on campus to honor Vets with PTSD and a heartwarming story that reached across the Atlantic Ocean from Normandy, France to the USA and back again on the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Also, in this edition, you will read about the impact of two breathtaking beauties, as well as travel and event suggestions for the season, a recipe sure to bring a smile and business advice from our publisher.
I hope you will be inspired and motivated to initiate change of your own. I leave you with one of my favorite Muhammad Ali quotes: “The service you do for others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
Be Brave - Take the initiative!
