Dreamland Ballroom to host booth, tours during event

Little Rock’s annual Juneteenth block party will take over West 9^th Street beginning at 8 AM on Saturday June 18,2022. There are a lot of events ranging from Little Rock’s first Juneteenth 5K, virtual events streamed to the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center Facebook page, and a host of live performances, vendors, and more. A complete schedule of events for Juneteenth in Da Rock can be found on Mosaic Templar’s website. The event boasts over 5000 attendees from around the state.

The Friends of Dreamland will have a booth, scheduled tour times, and updates on the Dreamland Ballroom restoration. Be sure to check out the new elevator. After years of planning and construction, the elevator to Dreamland Ballroom opened in May, marking an important step in the renovation and restoration of the historic site.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday celebrating the abolition of slavery and African American culture. It was first celebrated informally in Texas in 1866 and spread before becoming a federal holiday in 2021.
