Summer is coming and a dreaded phrase will be uttered by children all across the country: “I’m bored. What can we do?” This year when that age-old question pops up, we have a few suggestions for North Little Rock attractions.
North Little Rock attractions this summer:Argentawill play host to central Arkansas’ firstMaker Faire Festival, the fast-growing, tech-inspired movement that bills itself as the “greatest show (and tell) on earth.” The one-day science, art and technology-focused event is on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Rockwater Marina:Come see what’s happening along the Arkansas River’s Riverfront! Rockwater Marina is proud and excited to be part of the Central Arkansas effort to create a waterway that the public can enjoy. Conveniently located on the Arkansas River just minutes from downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock, Rockwater Marina offers amazing skyline views of the city with quick access to exciting local attractions, fine dining and premier hotels.
Wild River Country:The largest water park in the state of Arkansas, Wild River Country is fun for the whole family. In its 30th year of water thrills three new rides debut in May. Opening day is May 16.
Diamond Bear Brewery:Diamond Bear Brewing Company was founded in 2000 by Russ and Sue Melton with the mission of providing Arkansas and the region with a beer to call their own. The name Diamond Bear comes from the two nicknames for Arkansas. Originally, Arkansas was called the “Bear State” but, in 1905, when Diamonds were discovered, it was changed to the “Diamond State.” Since its founding, Diamond Bear Brewery has won numerous national and international awards for its world- class beer, including Gold Medals at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup.
One of the oldest North Little Rock attractions is the Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park:The Old Mill is an authentic reproduction of an old water-powered grist mill. This striking structure appears in the opening scene of the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind and is believed to be the only building remaining from the film. It was built in 1933 and designed to look old so it would appear as if it was built the 1800s. The park is decorated with sculptures of toadstools, tree stumps, and a tree branch-entwined bridge that connects the mill to the rest of the park. Photographers from across the state and beyond love picture perfect, Old Mill!

Mark Twain Riverboat Cruise:The Mark Twain is classic, captivating and comfortable. The first deck is climate controlled with large panoramic windows. The second deck is open-air for a more historic feel. Explore the river and learn of the various sites, history and origins past to present.
The Joint:Home to The Main Thing, a comedy group originating from Houston, Texas. They’ve got a show full of hilarious, original, family-friendly comedy sketches and parodies. Stop by The Joint and get your dose of The Main Thing. 301 Main St., North Little Rock. Argenta Community Theatre: July 21-August 1 – The delightful play adaptation of the Academy Award winning film Mrs. Miniver will be hitting
the stage. This is like no community theater you have ever seen.
Argenta Farmers Market:Held every Saturday beginning in late March from 7 a.m.-Noon, the Argenta Farmers Market is one of the first farmers markets in the state to be certified for having all products come from Arkansas family farmers. The market is located right across the street from Mugs Cafe at 6th & Main Streets in the Argenta Arts and Entertainment district of downtown North Little Rock. Parking is free.
Argenta Artwalk:The art walk is held the third Friday of each month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Park your car and stroll down Main Street. Shop all the galleries including Claytime Pottery, Art Connection, Argenta Gallery, Greg Thompson Fine Art, Mugs Cafe Gallery, Thea Foundation Gallery, Argenta Branch Library & Argenta 1st Presbyterian.
