am excited and proud to share with you that, in August, Brave Magazine was asked by the Department of Arkansas Heritage to our Brave publications to the Arkansas State Archives. It is an unexpected honor and we are grateful to be forever a part of Arkansas history.

This issue celebrates new beginnings and the courage it takes to start fresh. We have a Senior Citizen that began a business, an Arkansas hero that learned to walk again, a new way to support the fight against breast cancer, a death row inmate that was exonerated and a new series called Brave Broadcasts.

Humans are resilient. Every one of us has had life sucker punch them in one way or another. For a moment, we sit stunned and try to catch our breath. Then, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again. We rise to the occasion, looking optimistically forward. Every ending is, in fact, a new beginning.

Kahlil Gibran wrote, “Life goes not backwards, nor tarries with yesterday.” I love the wisdom of that quote. When you are in the position that you must start over, keep your eyes and feet moving in the same direction.

In the Bible, Lot’s wife longed to go back. In the end, that desire made her immobile. If you are looking backward and focused on the past, you may miss the door of opportunity that the future is holding open just for you.

Go ahead and step through.
