Patriotic Weddings bridal party with flowers
On Trend

Volume 1 Issue 1 Fall-Winter 2014
By Madison Monroe, Editor

Planning a wedding is never easy, but planning a patriotic wedding can be even more daunting. Imagine wanting to buy decorations for a Memorial Day, Flag Day, or Independence Day wedding six months beforehand, only to find the stores empty of patriotic supplies. Fortunately, patriotism never goes out of season at FlagandBanner.com, so it is possible to buy early for your spring or summer wedding.

Patriotic weddings can be military or civilian. Although military weddings easily lend themselves to a patriotic theme, anyone who loves our country can have an all-American wedding. From shabby-chic to glamorous, American decorations are so versatile that any wedding can take the patriotic route.

Invitations take on a patriotic look when printed in navy blue on crisp, white paper, perhaps with a red, white and blue belly ribbon. To see an example of these invitations, check out our downloadable Bridal Guide. *Please Note: Pricing and items may vary in the future.*

The bridal party can have a lot of fun with a patriotic theme. Brides shine as the white in the star spangled banner. Bridesmaids can coordinate by wearing navy blue dresses and red shoes, red dresses with white sashes or belts and blue shoes, or alternating red and blue dresses. The bride can add a pop of color to her look with a red or navy sash or bow. Fire-engine red pumps can be a sassy and classy compliment to a retro tea-length gown.

Flowers can easily adopt a patriotic theme, as well. How about a bouquet of red and white roses, tied with a ribbon that adds a little something blue? Brides can mix blue flowers in with their bouquet, or, if they are set on roses, many florists are able to dye white roses blue.

Patriotic decorating ideas are endless. Hang some stars and stripes bunting for a bold but tasteful American-themed backdrop. Add small stick flags to centerpieces and wedding favors. We also offer an array of disposable, patriotic plates, cups, and napkins for the reception. They complement the theme perfectly, and best of all, they make cleanup a snap.

Grilling is traditional for many patriotic holidays and can be a fun and relaxing way to cook for a patriotic summer wedding. Hold off on fancy catering and stock up on hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken and brats. This saves the bride from wondering whether she ordered enough food, because it is easier than estimating the number of hors d’oeuvres guests might eat with their traditional beef or chicken meal.

You can find great ideas for military or patriotic weddings on our website and in our Bridal Guide. If you need some help planning, contact FlagandBanner.com to bounce ideas off our flag experts. We are glad to help plan your patriotic wedding any time of year, because every day is a great day to be an American.
