Description

A simple slogan daring anyone to Come and Take It, no matter what it is. Today the slogan is making a comeback with Americans as gun control talks are in the news. The saying has a few famous moments in history. During the American Revolution at Fort Morris in 1778, the British tried to overtake the fort in Sunbury, GA. Col. McIntosh's response included this line: ''As to surrendering the fort, receive this laconic reply: COME AND TAKE IT!'. Amazingly, the British retreated only to return the next year with more troops.

It was most famously used during the Texas Revolution in 1835 at the Battle of Gonzales. The battle was over a cannon that the Mexican authorities had given the town to protect themselves from frequent Comanche raids. When the state started to revolt, the Mexican troops asked for the cannon back to which they refused. During the battle, the Texans raised a homemade white banner with an image of the cannon painted in black in the center, over the words 'Come and Take It'

This historical Come and Take It flag is available in three different fabrics and includes canvas heading and brass grommets. For indoor or outdoor use. Please Note: The large grommets on the cotton flags do not work with the EZ Mount rings. Instead we suggest the use of our Never Furls for hanging on poles indoor or out. Made in USA

“Wonderful experience. Saw TV ad and decided to try because my daughter has had several flags at her home where I'm staying. All the flags had been inadequate; quality, time used, etc.
while it's only been up for a few days, I'm pleased with your flag's performance and quality.”
